Mineral makeup brand, Nude by Nature is Australia's number one brand for cruelty-free make-up and with the brand on our shores, I've been trying out exactly what is worth your time.
Nude by Nature was created in 2008 in Sydney - born from a demand by a society that was becoming more and more conscious of their health, lifestyle and environmental choices. Skincare was becoming increasingly important, however, whilst people were trying to avoid toxins and harsh chemicals during their morning and evening skincare routine, they weren’t spending the same energy selecting the best make-up and so the brand was born.
Starting with a capsule collection of just three mineral foundations, a bronzer, a finishing veil and a make-up brush, Nude by Nature quickly became a household name and since trying a selection of their products (they've expanded their range massively in ten years) I have some thoughts.
Sourced from the pristine Australian environment, Nude by Nature harnesses powerful native Australian ingredients such as Kakadu Plum, known to have the world’s richest source of natural Vitamin C, anti-ageing Lilly Pilly, and Cehami to provide antioxidant defence. There's such a great selection of products and the brand have really expanded their offering since they burst on to the Australian market.
I picked out five of the products I've been using the most to share with you - there's a little bit of everything but a certain eye set is absolutely worth your time.
Let's go...
After practically abusing powder in my teenage years to achieve an oh-so powdery, matte finish to my makeup I discovered a dewiness I adored and stopped using it completely for years. Fast forward to now and I can appreciate a light setting powder much more. There are two I switch between, the Laura Mercier Setting Powder and this little gem from Nude by Nature.
The banana setting powder is composed of active natural ingredients including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content; and Kaolin Clay for a radiant flawless complexion to help evenly set skin, controlling oil and shine. The banana powder in particular helps to conceal redness, giving a more neutral tone to the skin. It's feather-light and really helps to extend makeup wear time - such an excellent product.
I've always been a take it or leave it kinda girl with primer but these aren't too shabby. Within the Perfecting Primer range, there are five to choose from. I've been switching between the Hydrate & Illuminate and Correct & Even primers and have found they work so well on my skin. The lightweight formula blends seamlessly and sits under makeup beautifully. Each of the primers is enriched with active natural ingredients including the native Australian Kakadu Plum and Lilly Pilly, known to nourish and provide antioxidant defence, while Hyaluronic Acid and Olive Oil hydrate and protect the skin from dry conditions.
I've dipped in and out with highlight sticks over the years, preferring powder most of the time but this is really similar to one I loved from another brand - Nude by Nature is much better for skin so I've switched over. The Touch of Glow Highlight stick comes in four shades and helps to create points of light on the face to enhance and brighten.
The glide-on cream to powder texture is composed of active natural ingredients including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content and Quandong and Desert Lime to help provide antioxidant defence. The fragrance-free formula is also composed of soft natural waxes including Carnauba Wax, and Vitamin E to help perfect the complexion. It's such an easy way to add luminosity to the skin, champagne is my favourite shade of the four.
I'm particularly fussy about mascara, I like them to catch every lash and really open my eyes so this had stiff competition. Thanks to its unique flexible brush and buildable formula, the Allure Defining Mascara gives intensified, lengthened and separated lashes in an instant. Composed of active natural ingredients including Candelilla Wax and Arabic Gum, the formula remains soft and flexible, allowing the application of multiple coats without flaking. It is also enriched with Pro-Vitamin B5 to condition the lashes over time - big claims and it totally delivered.
I'm a sucker for a neutral eye palette and this is a little beauty! Small with just three pans, each eyeshadow palette features a trio of shades that compliment each other perfectly meaning you can obtain stunning eye looks in no time at all. The feather-light formula is enriched with active natural ingredients, including Quandong and Desert Lime to help provide antioxidant defence. The richly pigmented and silky smooth shadows are packed into a beautiful case with a cruelty-free double-ended brush for easy beauty on the go. There's even a handy enclosed mirror. The trio in Nude has been my go-to - the shades really suit my eyes and make the blue pop - such a great product.
