March has been a funny old month, it was also the month that was all change for us and then we had the rug pulled from our feet when we finally contracted covid a few weeks ago! We started off full of hope, new routines and plenty of plans - it was exciting after so long of being trapped or nervous about going out. We had events again, food reviews, saw friends and I finally stepped back on a cruise ship!
And then the four year old contracted covid at preschool...
Thankfully he wasn't too poorly - it was just the two of us at first so we stayed in isolation to protect the other two but unfortunately they also contracted it. We are just hanging on for the final member to test negative and then hopefully we'll be free. Well, until the next time which I imagine will happen at some point. I have been able to pull together some positives though so here are five happy things from March.
The sun shone
March started off pretty well - the sun was shining, we saw our first flushes of blossom and we even walked home from preschool with coats off one afternoon. I think I sometimes forget how much the weather dominates my mood and I absolutely need blue skies and sunshine to thrive. It doesn't need to be warm but those sunny blues sure do make a difference.
First Iced Coffee of the Year
Before covid stole my month I ventured into the city with my youngest to get some steps in, explore the city and grab a coffee, or two. Our first stop was Partners in Coffee where I had an Iced Oat Mocha and a peanut butter stuffed cookie because I couldn't resist. Such a great coffee spot in Southampton.
Cruise Ship fun on Valiant Lady
Two years ago I stepped on Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady so it seemed fitting that the first ship I would step on again would be her sister ship, Valiant Lady. We travelled to Tilbury where she was docked for a couple of nights and joined the ship for the UK Showcase celebrating her launch. I'll share a post on the experience soon within my Cruise Ship section.
Pretty Spring Dresses
Due to being in isolation, I missed allllll that glorious sunny weather but that didn't stop me from ordering a little something as soon as the shops were full of spring dresses. I ordered the picnic blanket-esque dress from New Look although I can't wait to wear it without a jumper over the top.
Afternoon Tea at Grand Cafe
Thankfully, I did test negative in time to celebrate Mother's Day with my Mum, Grandma and Sister as we'd booked for yesterday rather than Mothering Sunday. We decided this year that we would take both our mum and grandma out for afternoon tea rather than do the usual and it was such a lovely afternoon. Grand Cafe is definitely one of the best places for this in Southampton.
