I've always been a lover of Halloween, I have fond memories of dressing up as a ghost with a bedsheet over my head or a witch with a broom as a child so I've always wanted to create that magic for our children too. Joshua is an October baby so he saw his first Halloween at two weeks old while wearing a pumpkin outfit and so as the years have gone on, we've dressed up and bought spooky snacks to celebrate.
I went all out last year because we spent most of the year inside and incidentally created some Halloween traditions of our own so with the spookiest month of the year rolling around again, it was party time once again.
We had one very excited vampire and one tiny pumpkin this year and we had the best time so I wanted to share a peek inside our Halloween Party and give you some inspiration for next year.
The main show was the food! The last few years I've bought the majority of the party food from Marks & Spencer as they have a really great Halloween range which includes some vegetarian and vegan options too. They sent me a voucher to purchase some of the range so I came away with Ghoulish Cauliflower Bites, Boo-Bao Buns, Bubbling Cheese Cauldron and lots of Spooky Colins.
The Sour Spiders and Bogey Buttons went down a treat as did the Spiced Pumpkin Loaf Cale. The range was the biggest and best it has been so far and I can't wait to see what they come up with next year - I get so excited every year to see what's going to be available.
Pumpkins were a total bargain at M&S this year too as they started from just 65p again.
It was decorations galore and we spent most of Saturday decorating and carving our pumpkins - it was so much more fun this year as Joshua was that bit older.
Joshua and I also turned our hands at decorating some cakes - it was very messy, our icing was terrible but we had a lot of fun which was the most important part. All our decorations are bits I've picked up over the last few years mostly from Poundland, Flying Tiger and various supermarkets although I'll definitely be checking Homesense next year.
Our Halloween party was full of fun, laughs and a Halloween playlist so we could dance along to Thriller and Monster Mash too - I can't wait for next years Halloween.
I might even have to dress up properly for it!
How did you spend Halloween?
