Bumps a Daisy Maternity Treatments at The Ocean Rooms // Southampton

I'm a firm believer in taking care of yourself and your skin and for the last couple of years, I've made much more effort when it comes to beauty treatments. There are two salons I visit in Southampton and have done for a number of years one of which being The Ocean Rooms.

The Ocean Rooms can be found in Ocean Village, Southampton looking out onto the marina and it's a favourite of mine and many others. The decor is luxurious, the therapists lovely and they do a range of treatments for all people including maternity treatments which is how I found myself there a few weeks ago.

During my first pregnancy, I visited The Ocean Rooms for a Maternity Massage after being gifted one by friends for my baby shower so I couldn't wait to repeat the experience again this time.

Super Easy Colour with Pixi Beauty On The Glow Blush

Over the last few months, I've had a handful of new product launches to play with, and these have just slipped their way in there so hot on the tails of my post - 12 NEW Products from Pixi Beauty to Try I bring you a little bit of makeup fun with their oh-so-pretty On The Glow Blush Sticks.

I personally think Pixi do makeup really well - all their products are fun, colourful and innovative and there are plenty of fuss-free favourites to add to your everyday makeup bag. I swear by their highlighters, eyeshadows and mascaras but I've never tried the blush sticks until now.

I've really simplified my makeup bag over the last year, staying home meant I wasn't wearing makeup like I always have done and so easy to use tools have fast become my go-to. I'm a bit slapdash with blush, I've always loved powder for ease so I can quickly twirl in a brush, apply and be on my way but the Pixi On-The-Glow Blush Sticks make it even easier to add colour especially if you're in a rush. 

The glow-inducing cheek colours deliver high-pigment colour payoff as well as long-lasting wear. The formula is smooth, glides onto the skin, and feels completely weightless - it blends like a complete dream on the skin when using a buffing brush. 

The formula is enriched with Ginseng, Aloe Vera, and Fruit Extracts which release soothing and calming properties to ensure skin remains supple and hydrated throughout wear time.

Buildable and blendable, the cheek colour works to enliven the complexion with a soft, natural-looking flush, and can also be used as a subtle lip tint - it gives such a hydrating and dewy look to the skin. 

The packaging is a little different to blush sticks I've seen and used in the past which are usually round. Pixi's are housed in a stick-like applicator that is twistable with a solid balm that you can swipe directly onto the skin and then blend allowing for precise and controlled application every time.

Overall, I'm a big fan and more so than I thought I would be! I've always been wary of how intense the shades look but they're so easily blendable my fear of looking like a clown has never happened.

Five Happy Things // May Edition

It feels weird to still be in this strange Lockdown limbo again - a little part of me did think it may all be over by December and how wrong was I? Now we're tentatively making our way towards indoor dining, soft plays, and seeing more people I'm feeling a little overwhelmed while also trying not to get my hopes up just in case it all goes wrong again. The ups and downs of lockdown eh?

One thing I think we can all agree on is that the last year has taught us a lot - for us especially it was to value the small things, make memories where we can, and make the most of family and friends. Happy moments don't have to be a huge, momentous thing, they can be just about anything - be it a chocolate bar you treated yourself to or a long walk listening to an audiobook.

I've really been trying to do this myself recently and so in the spirit of just that I'm sharing five more happy things.

What I Read in April + Mini Reviews

Books, books books! This year is flying by - I feel like I say that all the time but a new month means a quick refresh on what I've been reading over the last month. I only managed four books this month as I've been suffering badly from vertigo due to my pregnancy which made reading difficult but I'm feeling much better and have found my groove again.

My TBR pile is never-ending and I'm a nightmare for continually adding to it so I've placed a ban on myself until I've worked through what I have at home - not including 99p Kindle offers, oops!
