A Look at Typology Skincare's Tinted Serums

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Typology burst on to the scene last year and well and truly made their mark on me. They're the ideal starting point for anyone that wants a more effective and targeted skincare routine while still being exceptionally conscious to the world around you too.

Created by Ning Li, the founder of MADE.com, Typology is completely clean, genderless and 100% digital. The Paris-based skincare brand was founded with a mission to promote critical thinking in the personal care arena, intending to break the rules and demystify the complex industry. It's completely stripped back to basics in terms of ingredients and packaging allowing them to design and produce concentrated, natural products that are active, effective and sustainable without a bit of faff in sight.

It's completely refreshing and I've been completely blown away.

Having tried a number of their products which you can view in my Introducing Typology Skincare post since they launched in the UK - I've since had another of their products to try out, Tinted Serum!

Typology's NEW Tinted Serums (£24.80) have been developed to offer light coverage for a wide spectrum of skin tones. There are just six shades but they've been developed using the Fitzpatrick phototype scale which takes into account factors like skin tone and reactions to sun exposure.

The silicon-free, non-clogging tinted serum is formulated with vitamin C for radiance and squalane and aloe vera for deep, long-lasting hydration. It's perfect for when you want a subtle tint and blurring coverage but don't want anything too heavy - I feel this will really be the one for me in the summer months.

The shades available are:
Type 1 Fair: Fair skin with cool undertones and freckles that don't tan and becomes red in the sun.
Type 2 Light: Light skin with pink or yellow undertones that tans gradually and is prone to sunburns.
Type 3 Medium: Medium-toned skin with warm/olive undertones, that tans easily but sometimes burns.
Type 4 Tan: For dark skin with predominantly bronze undertones that occasionally sunburns.
Type 5 Medium-dark: This is for light brown skin that rarely gets sunburned and easily tans in the sun.
Type 6: Dark. The shade for dark brown skin with naturally cold undertones that rarely sunburns.

I have two bottles of the tinted serum so I could work out what was best suited to me and Type 2 Light is my perfect serum shade. Sometimes you may find that the serum will appear too light or too dark upon application but if you allow them to dry fully you'll discover your true shade. I tend to use Type 1 Fair under my eyes to brighten so I can still put it to good use.

To apply the tinted serum, simply remove the dropper, dip into the bottle and release to fill with the serum before applying three to four drops to the skin. Take a brush or use clean fingers to evenly cover the face and neck until desired coverage is met.

It's a really great product - I've had no irritation, no reaction and for something so light, it blurs my skin really well. I'm usually a full coverage kinda person but as the current climate means there's not much going out happening, the tinted serums have been a great alternative.
