4 Super Easy Eco Beauty Swaps

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Finding eco and sustainable options seems to be all I research at the moment. Becoming a mum has changed a lot for me, especially how I see my impact on the earth my son is growing up on. We've all seen the documentaries and the warnings, it should be enough to put the frighteners on anyone and so I've spent most of this year swapping everyday items for those that are more friendly to our planet and of course reusable.

One of the very first switches I made was to a menstrual cup, partly because of my use of sanitary towels and tampons but also because I hadn't found anything comfortable since having a baby. I then bought myself a reusable coffee cup with Arran replacing my rubbish leaky one with a KeepCup and then I binned off face wipes completely in favour of flannels and muslin cloths.

The last few years have seen lots of swaps for us as a family and so I wanted to show you four super easy eco-beauty swaps I've made over the last few months, that you can do to!

A Look at Typology Skincare's Tinted Serums

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Typology burst on to the scene last year and well and truly made their mark on me. They're the ideal starting point for anyone that wants a more effective and targeted skincare routine while still being exceptionally conscious to the world around you too.

Created by Ning Li, the founder of MADE.com, Typology is completely clean, genderless and 100% digital. The Paris-based skincare brand was founded with a mission to promote critical thinking in the personal care arena, intending to break the rules and demystify the complex industry. It's completely stripped back to basics in terms of ingredients and packaging allowing them to design and produce concentrated, natural products that are active, effective and sustainable without a bit of faff in sight.

It's completely refreshing and I've been completely blown away.

Having tried a number of their products which you can view in my Introducing Typology Skincare post since they launched in the UK - I've since had another of their products to try out, Tinted Serum!

My Favourite Books of 2020

Reading has always been one of my favourite hobbies for as long as I can remember. My mum always used to take my sister and I to the library to pick out new books and that love grew over the years. There have been occasions where I've lost my love of it and haven't read for years and then I'll find my passion again, tearing through page upon page.

It's also the one thing that really keeps my mental health in check and I love nothing more than curling up in a corner and reading something new. At the beginning of 2019 after a pretty horrendous 2018, I downloaded Goodreads and set myself a challenge to read 25 books and my love for reading flourished from there again.

2020 was obviously the year of staying at home which in turn helped me achieve my 2020 Goodreads challenge of 75 and read a total of 100 books by the end of the year. I've rounded up eight titles from that 100 that really stuck out to me as my favourites and I hope you pick them up and love them too!

2020... You weren't so bad

You've probably read the title of this post and thought what is she on but hear me out...

2020 will be known for a lot of things - a global pandemic, horrific loss of life, the year we all ran out of toilet roll apart from a few selfish souls and the one where we stayed at home. Over the last few weeks while I've taken a much-needed break with my family I've been reflecting a lot on this year and the positives it gave to us because unbelievably there were some.

This time in 2019 we had just wrapped up Christmas and New Year and ya know what? I was exhausted. The lead up to December saw me at numerous events, reviewing shows and Christmas menus as well as creating my Christmas content and by the time the big day actually rolled around I was tired and full of a cold. My much-needed break over the festive period was just a few days long before I was back at my desk writing, creating and doing my tax return.

This year, however, has given me the beauty of time, something I didn't appreciate until this year...
