Lighthouse Clothing - The Ideal Jackets come Rain or Shine

This is a paid partnership with Lighthouse Clothing - see disclaimer.

When it comes to getting out and about with kids, having the right clothing is more important than ever. My days of running out in heeled boots and an umbrella are long behind me when I have to battle the elements with a pushchair that needs two hands or walking with a little toddler hand in mine. The heeled boots have been replaced with practical converse, I now own sturdy wellies and of course, the much-needed raincoat.

Lighthouse Clothing is somewhere we've purchased clothes from when Joshua was just a year old, we wanted a practical raincoat for him and we loved the styles that Lighthouse Clothing had so we've just naturally gone back to them as Joshua has grown.

It also meant they were my go-to for my own practical raincoat too.

Lighthouse Clothing originates from Northern Ireland with inspiration coming from their love of the coast and the desire to make life a little simpler. It's safe to say they know a thing or two about rain, wind and uncertain weather forecasts so I'm more than happy to put my trust and money in them.

The products are beautifully crafted and designed with a sense of style, something that was quite important to me as I wanted a raincoat that would look great as well as being practical. I wanted one that I could chuck on with jeans and converse on my way for coffee with friends as well as being ideal for the preschool run with my favourite small human.

I also wanted the perfect raincoat for Joshua to wear be it at preschool, a walk along the shore or running through muddy woods. Thankfully, practicality and style go hand in hand at Lighthouse Clothing which makes for a happy Mum!

The Rathlin Jacket (£99.95) in Night Sky is what I ordered, I knew that this would go perfectly with the majority of my wardrobe, and you just can't go wrong with a classic trench.

The trench is waterproof, practical and just the right length to keep you dry if you get caught in the rain. The faux leather pulls and wooden button details give a vintage quality and with double storm flaps at the shoulders and a lined detachable hood you'll stay bone dry in a downpour, I got caught last week and was so glad I was wearing this at the time.

The cotton-rich outer has a Teflon coating making it super waterproof and breathable (no sweatiness!) and the soft cotton lining adds warmth and comfort for those chillier mornings. I really love the style of this, its mid-thigh length, has concealed adjustable waist drawcord plus the shaped style gives a really flattering look. The jacket fits really well and you really can feel the quality as soon as you put it on.

If all of that isn't good enough reason to purchase one then there are also two front flap pockets and a zipped internal pocket so wherever you're heading, your belongings will always be concealed and safe!

The Rathlin Jacket comes in two shades, Night Sky and Brushwood. If you're looking for something more colourful, there's a wider range available on the website particularly the Bowline style.

For Joshua, a little red raincoat has been our go-to ever since he was old enough to wear one and you just can't beat a classic, can you?

The Anchor Jacket (£32.95) in Pillar Box is the ideal raincoat for little ones. Its pliable rubberised outer of the jacket means their dry and comfortable whether they're up against wind or rain and the soft lining helps keep them warm and comfortable rain or shine. The hood is a really good size and covers Joshua up perfectly (if only he'd keep it up!), and pockets mean his favourite train can always come along for a walk with us too. It also comes in three shades, Pillar Box, Sunshine and Ocean Stripe.

It's a great fit too, we ordered a size 2-3y for Joshua and it's super roomy that we're hoping it sees him right through the year. Nothing better than well-fitting, practical clothes for children that last.

The best bit? Joshua loves his red raincoat and when it first arrived, he sat and watched Thomas the Tank Engine in it and would not take it off.

I think it's love for all of us and I mean how could it not be? We just need to get Arran in one now!
