Southampton is bustling full of restaurants and bars since the new development opened and I've just ticked All Bar One off my list of places to try. My sister and I headed in for an evening of food and mocktails on a busy Thursday to see exactly what was on offer.
All Bar One was packed when we arrived and they unfortunately didn't have our booking but we did manage to get a table. It's beautifully set out in sections with modern decor, hanging lights and very open spaced. This did mean it was incredibly noisy but after a while you kinda became used to it as other diners sat, chatted and laughed around you. We ordered drinks and settled down to read the menu as there was a much wider choice than I realised.
I ordered the Salt & Pepper Calamari (When don't I?!) while Emily ordered the Nachos. The Calamari was cooked perfectly and the Sweet Chilli and Lime Dip complimented it really well. The Nachos were a disappointment but purely due to personal taste. Instead of traditional tortilla chips, the Nachos was just a puffed tortilla wrap, had this been on the menu, we wouldn't of ordered them. Probably a good thing we weren't too full as we ordered burgers for our main meals!
I ordered The Wagyu which was pressed 100% Wagyu beef burger with smoked Cheddar, Dijon mustard mayo and chilli tomato jam served with fries while Emily tried The Smoky which was BBQ pulled pork with smoked chedder cheese and fries. It's not often we both order burgers while we're out but we both thoroughly enjoyed them. The meat was succulent and cooked just as we liked it too.
Having already seen All Bar One had Churros on their dessert menu, we had already decided we would be having dessert too! The Churros were swiftly ordered, along with the Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte which was recommended by our fabulous server for the evening. Our sibling ways of arguing over everything is long gone and we shared the desserts between us. The torte was lovely but churros always win hands down in our eyes!
We had a lovely evening sampling food and chatting. I definitely want to try their brunch menu next and the Fish & Chips as when they came out for someone else, they looked delicious. The prices are also very reasonable and from 5pm, cocktails are just a fiver! Perfect for a catch up with friends or cocktails with the girls. Have you tried All Bar One before? What did you think?
