The American Diner of Dreams

I really hope you're not bored of the foodie posts because I'm not bored of eating yet. As you may (or may not) know, Southampton has just welcomed a huge development full of delicious eateries. We've been working our way around each of them and today, it's the turn of The Diner.

A group of bloggers from Southampton and the surrounding areas were invited along to The Diner's Shake It Southampton launch event. Think bloggers, all the food you can swallow and milkshake making, it was a pretty fabulous evening. We settled ourselves into one the American style booths before ordering drinks and taking a look at the menu.

The Diner has a very dark interior, lots of dark wood, leather and neon lights. reminding me a little of Coyote Ugly just with more clothes. Milkshakes and fizzy soon arrived to the table and after what felt like eternity because we couldn't decide, we finally placed our food order. We were sat as a group of six and were told we could order whatever we wanted so you can imagine the pressure we were under. Food is a serious business after all.

I went with the original cheese burger with monterey jack sauce and cheesy chips, I also ordered a side of bacon jalapeno tater tots and onion rings because I didn't realise how huge the portions were. Big mistake. I was presented with so much food that I felt incredibly guilty that I couldn't eat it all. I did manage to finish my burger which was delicious and I did fall a little in love with the tater tots so all was not lost. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and can't wait to go back to try the pancakes as I've heard they are pretty fabulous.

After finishing most of our food. everyone headed to the bar to make their very own milkshakes, I watched and took photos as I couldn't fit anything else in my stomach, even if they did look delicious, especially the Oreo one! We were each sent away with the best goody bag everrrr when it was time to say our goodbyes, each bag was full of everything you would need to make your very own milkshake at home and boy, were we spoilt. I had the best evening at The Diner with some of my favourite blogging pals. Events like this one, really do make their mark for the right reasons.

Have you been to The Diner before? What do you think of the food?
